Stop offering bribes to enforcement officers, says Perak top cop

IPOH: Stop offering bribes to enforcement agency officers, says Perak police chief Comm Datuk Mior Faridalathrash Wahid.

”I understand that some folk may think that they do not want to get slapped with summonses, especially after committing a traffic offence.

"The people need to change their mindset," he told reporters after attending the state police monthly gathering at the police air unit training base here on Wednesday (July 20).

"If any officers, not just the police, asks for bribes, the people are encouraged to lodge a report with the police or Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC)," he said, adding that it was an offence to ask for bribes.

"Get their name and (badge) number.

"There can be allegations sometime, so we will have to investigate these reports," he added.

Comm Mior Faridalathrash said in his speech earlier during the gathering that there had been no policemen arrested or being investigated by the MACC this year.

"However, this does not mean it is not happening as there are still some who are involved in bribery.

"All department and district heads need to be committed to monitoring these incidents, including the policemen and officers under them.

"Failure to control this will see people doubting and distrusting the police," he said.
