Covid-19 Watch: 2,536 new cases, says Health Ministry


PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded 2,536 new Covid-19 infections on Sunday (July 3), says the Health Ministry.

The Health Ministry said through data released on its CovidNow portal on Monday (July 4) that this brings the new total to 4,573,891 cases since the pandemic began.

Of the 2,536, three are imported cases while 2,633 are local.

The CovidNow portal also said that there were 3,123 recoveries on Sunday, bringing the total number of active cases in Malaysia to 29,793.

Of the active cases, 95.7% or 28,508 individuals are undergoing home quarantine, while 19 people or 0.1% are being treated at low-risk quarantine and treatment centres (PKRC).

Only 4.1% of active cases or 1,250 individuals needed to be hospitalised, with 45 warded in intensive care units (ICU) throughout the country.

Of that number, 26 require ventilator support.
