Fire damages five houses in Butterworth


BUTTERWORTH: Five houses were damaged in a fire at Jalan Kampung Jawa in Butterworth here.

The fire happened on Tuesday (June 28) at around 2am.

No casualties were reported.

A spokesman from the Penang Fire and Rescue Department said when the operations team arrived at the scene it was found that the fire involved five houses.

“The overall fire destruction was estimated at 80% and the fire was brought under control at 2.25am.

“The extinguishing operation was assisted by nearby fire stations and the fire did not involve any casualties,” he said.
