Cops to be given list of nightclubs dealing with drugs, says former IGP

KUALA LUMPUR: A list of nightclubs and entertainment outlets that allegedly dealt with drugs will be handed over to Bukit Aman, says Tan Sri Musa Hassan.

The former Inspector-General of Police said that he has contacted Bukit Aman Narcotic Crimes Investigation Department (NCID) director Comm Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay on the matter.

"The list was compiled from informants and I have spoken to Datuk Ayob. I’m just waiting for his side to pass me a time and date and I will hand over the list," said Musa, who is the NGO Malaysia Community Crime Care Association president, in Sungai Besi here.

The list, he said, has around 15 names of clubs in and out of the Klang Valley. It also has the names of its owners and management.

Musa said that drug users nowadays were made up of working professionals and that stronger enforcement was needed to curb the issue.

He also urged the authorities to go after bribe givers who work with unscrupulous policemen to aid their activities.

On repeat offenders, Musa urged the use of laws such as the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001.

"Go after their bank accounts. There are plenty of laws that are available to prevent them from operating," he said.

On allegations by Edisi Siasat saying he had taken bribes, Musa said that this was not the first time such allegations have been thrown at him.

"Tell me which cartel is giving me bribes? I’ve been investigated in the past by the MACC and I myself have in the past lodged a report after allegations like these were made," he said.
