NCID officers working with drug syndicates? It's fake and not from me, says Ayob

KUALA LUMPUR: Bukit Aman Narcotic Crimes Investigation Department (NCID) director Comm Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay has denied issuing a statement that claimed several high ranking NCID and other police officers were involved in drug trafficking syndicates.

He said the report which was spread by a Telegram account was fake with the aim of tarnishing the credibility and image of the police force.

"The report tried to give the impression that corruption was rampant in the police force," he said in a statement on Tuesday (June 14).

He also denied that high ranking NCID and police officers are in cahoots with drug syndicates.

"We will take stern action if there is solid proof that police officers are working with drug syndicates," he said.

Comm Ayob said all successes achieved are due to strong cooperation between all departments in the police force and other agencies.

"We urge the people not to believe unverified statements.

"Sharing and spreading such information will cause public distress," he said.
