Saifuddin unwell, misses Penang assembly sitting


GEORGE TOWN: Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail has missed the Penang state assembly sitting on Monday (May 30) as he is unwell.

The Pantai Jerejak assemblyman was also absent for the first day of the sitting on Friday (May 27).

Speaker Datuk Law Choo Kiang said the former domestic trade and consumer affairs minister’s special officer informed him that Saifuddin was seeking treatment for an undisclosed ailment.

“We are unsure if he is getting treatment in Malaysia or overseas.

“His special officer informed us of his absence,” he told reporters at the state assembly building in Light Street.

Law said he was not informed if Saifuddin would be present on subsequent days.

On Sunday (May 29), Saifuddin conceded to Rafizi Ramli in the fight for the PKR deputy president's post.

In a Facebook post, Saifuddin said that although the election committee had not released the official results, the outcome was published on the party's website.
