Couple probed over video complaining about Taiping lodge

IPOH: Police here are investigating a couple who posted a video on social media complaining about a lodge in Taiping and its owner.

This follows a police report made over the video, Taiping OCPD Asst Comm Osman Mamat said when contacted on Tuesday (May 10).

In the 5-minute-53-second-long video uploaded on Facebook, the couple made several claims about the service and conditions at the lodge and said they had to wait for a long time for their dinner to be served.

They also claim that the owner, a Datuk in the area, turned down their request for a refund and used a derogatory term against them.

ACP Osman said no report had been made by the couple.

“We have opened an investigation under Section 500 of the Penal Code for defamation and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998,” he added.
