SHAH ALAM: The police will not compromise in taking action against anyone involved in drug-related offences regardless of their standing, says Comm Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay.
The Bukit Aman Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) director said those detained for drug-related offences will be investigated fully and the investigation papers will be submitted to the Attorney General's Chambers (AGC).
"We will not tolerate anyone involved in drug offences, whether they are an ustaz, civil servant or politician.
"We will detain (them), open an investigation paper and submit it to the AGC for further action," he told reporters at the Selangor police headquarters on Sunday (March 27).
He was asked to comment on the arrest of a well-known 47-year-old singer and composer as well as the seizure of 17 ganja plants at a condominium in Kota Damansara on Thursday (March 24).
While the NCID did not have any special squad to monitor celebrities' involvement with drugs, Comm Ayob Khan said monitoring was conducted on everyone, regardless of status.
On Thursday, the celebrity was arrested for cultivating ganja plants in his home in Kota Damansara.
Police also seized a packet filled with 214g of ganja.
The suspect also tested positive for tetrahydrocannabinol and has been remanded for further investigation.
