MB: Diverse exco line-up reflects true face of Bangsa Johor

JOHOR BARU: The newly appointed Johor executive councillors comprise 70% youths, says Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi.

The newly minted Mentri Besar said the lineup was a combination of experienced leaders along with young leaders who are knowledgeable and skilled.

“The new line-up also consists of leaders of various races and takes into account the gender balance, which reflects the true face of Bangsa Johor,” he told a press conference at the Mentri Besar’s official residence yesterday.

The Machap assemblyman thanked Johor Ruler Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar for giving his consent in the appointment of the 10 new executive councillors in serving the state.

Earlier, the 10 state assemblymen took their oath in front of Sultan Ibrahim at Balai Menghadap in Istana Bukit Serene.

Present at the ceremony were Tunku Mahkota Johor Tunku Ismail Ibni Sultan Ibrahim and Tunku Temenggong Johor Tunku Idris Iskandar Al-Haj Ibni Sultan Ibrahim.

Onn Hafiz expressed his confidence that the new executive councillors would be able to carry out their duties and responsibilities with trust, dedication and integrity over the next five years.

“The challenges that lie ahead are enormous and challenging, especially when we are still battling the Covid-19 pandemic.

“However, we will do our best to drive Johor to a better level for the welfare of the people, assisted by state government officials and staff,” he said.

Onn Hafiz also said that his administration would be working hard to fulfil all the pledges made by Barisan Nasional under its manifesto during the state election, which would be implemented in the future and become Johor’s priorities.

He said the thrust of the new government would emphasise the concept of Bangsa Johor in developing this state equally, regardless of religion, race and background.

“Aspects of welfare, economy, education and health of the people will be the priority and focus of the state government.

“If we are together, I am confident there is no mountain too high to climb and no ravine too steep to descend,” he said.

Onn Hafiz will take charge of land revenue, administration, finance, economic planning and development.

Buloh Kasap assemblyman Datuk Zahari Sarip is state agriculture, agro based and rural development committee chairman, Bukit Permai assemblyman Datuk Mohd Jafni Md Shukor will look after housing and local government and Tenggaroh assemblyman K. Raven Kumar will helm tourism, environment, heritage and culture.

Serom assemblyman Khairin Nisa Ismail will be overseeing women, family and community development while Larkin assemblyman Mohd Hairi Mad Shah will head youth, sports, entrepreneurs development, cooperatives and human resources.

Semerah assemblyman Mohd Fared Mohd Khalid is state Islamic affairs committee chairman, Yong Peng assemblyman Ling Tian Soon will look after health and unity and Paloh assemblyman Lee Ting Han will lead investment, trade and consumer affairs.

Bukit Pasir assemblyman Mohamad Fazli Mohamad Salleh will take charge of works, transportation and infrastructure and Johor Lama assemblyman Norliza Noh will helm education, information and communications.
