Covid-19: ProtectHealth gradually shutting down more offsite vaccination centres

PETALING JAYA: More offsite vaccination centres (PPV) by ProtectHealth Corporation will be winding down operations as over 64% of adults in the country have received their booster doses.

In a statement on Wednesday (March 8), the company said vaccination centres registered under them would gradually cease operations in March.

“The offsite PPVs were opened to accelerate the booster dose programme and have achieved this objective, whilst the remaining vaccinations will be undertaken by onsite PPVs,” said ProtectHealth.

It added that ProtectHealth was committed to carrying out the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK) by maintaining onsite and several offsite vaccination centres nationwide.

“Currently, there are 1,102 onsite PPVs and 111 offsite PPVs under ProtectHealth operating. Previously, over 2,000 PPVs registered under ProtectHealth had been tasked to administer booster doses,” said ProtectHealth

“Following this, those planning to obtain their booster or primary series vaccination are advised to check the list of the PPVs at ProtectHealth’s website: www.protecthealth.com.my to avoid any inconvenience,” he said, adding that the list is updated from time to time,” it added.

ProtectHealth chief executive officer Datuk Dr Anas Alam Faizli urged those who had not obtained their Covid-19 vaccine booster dose to get it immediately.

“The vaccine is proven to reduce the severity of the disease as well as reduce hospitalisation and death,” it said.

It added that most offsite PPVs venues are in community halls and shopping malls where it is convenient for the public to walk-in for booster shots.

“As many offsite PPVs will gradually wind down their operations, we strongly encourage everyone to immediately get their booster dose.

As of March 7, 2022, over 15 million booster doses have been administered and 77.5% or 11.6 million doses were contributed by private medical practitioners and healthcare non-governmental organisations under ProtectHealth.
