Covid-19: No quarantine for close-contacts who are asymptomatic and boosted

PETALING JAYA: Close contacts who have received their booster shots do not need to undergo quarantine if they have no symptoms, says the Health Ministry.

Close contacts who were symptomatic would have to undergo five days of home quarantine.

Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said this was the ministry’s newest close contact procedures that would take effect on March 1.

"For those who have been identified as close contacts to a Covid-19 positive case, if they have no symptoms on the first day of exposure and have received their boosters, they do not need to undergo quarantine.

"However, they must undergo Covid-19 self-tests on Day One and Day Three after their exposures. If they test negative, they can go about doing their usual stuff.

"If they test positive, then they must report to MySejahtera," said Khairy at a press conference on Thursday (Feb 24).

Individuals who were close contacts, have no symptoms, but had yet to receive their booster shots would still need to undergo quarantine for five days, said Khairy.

Khairy said those who were identified as close contacts would receive the Home Assessment Tool (HAT) where they needed to fill up a questionnaire.

"If you say that you are not symptomatic, then you will not be given a Home Surveillance Order and your MySejahtera status remains normal," said Khairy.

The minister added that the new procedures were made by studying scientific facts and new information.
