Single mum Loh, three kids over the moon as they bond over cooking and travel

PETALING JAYA: Single mother Loh Siew Hong’s three children were over the moon as they finally got to travel as a family after three years.

“I brought my children to Genting Highlands on Tuesday (Feb 22) and they had the time of their lives.

“It has been three years since they last went out and had fun.

“It was a great family bonding session for us.

“I also bought some new clothes for my children.

“My son was moved to tears and asked why I bought expensive clothes for them.

“I told him that I saved up money for them over the past three years and it is OK for me to spend it on them,” she said on Wednesday (Feb 23).

Loh added that she and her children also bonded over cooking sessions.

“My children are really happy that they are finally back with me.

“They told me that they miss my cooking and asked me to cook so many dishes including ayam kicap and traditional Indian food for them.

“I enjoy cooking with my kids and my eldest daughter told me that she learnt how to cook when I was not with them during the past three years.

“It was indeed a great bonding session as I got to make up for lost time with them,” she shared.

On Monday (Feb 21), the Kuala Lumpur High Court allowed Loh’s habeas corpus application and ordered the children to be released from the Social Welfare Department’s care and back into her custody and care.

After Loh’s divorce in 2019, the High Court previously granted her sole custody of the children.

Loh, however, lost contact with her children for three years after a hospital stay caused by injuries allegedly due to domestic abuse.

He ex-husband, an Indian-Muslim convert, had taken the children to Perlis and arranged for them to be converted to Islam.

He has since been arrested for a drug offence and is now in prison in Kelantan.
