KUCHING: The health, science and innovation parliamentary select committee (PSC) will look into Bintulu MP Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing's allegations that the Health Ministry's Covid-19 data was manipulated in its next meeting.
Its chairman Kelvin Yii said the matter was not discussed in detail during the PSC's meeting with Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin and Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah in Parliament on Friday (Jan 14).
"In our next meeting we may request the minister and director-general to show evidence to dispel any such allegations.
"This is important to build public confidence in the government's approach to Covid-19 in the spirit of transparency and accountability," the Bandar Kuching MP said when contacted on Saturday (Jan 15).
He added that yesterday's meeting discussed the amendments to the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 (Act 342).
Tiong had claimed on Wednesday (Jan 12) that Covid-19 data on deaths and confirmed cases was "being manipulated by unseen hands".
He also questioned Khairy on the amount and cost of Covid-19 vaccines procured since he took office.
