KUALA LUMPUR: A group of 12 talented local artists will feature their masterpieces in the form of non-fungible token (NFT) art to create social awareness and raise funds for Tunku Azizah Fertility Foundation (TAFF) through the Arts for ART (Assisted Reproductive Technology) campaign.
Crypto-Nate project manager S.R. Baapu Shrreraj said the virtual campaign involving infertility is a charity project run by a group of Master of Business Administration final year postgraduate students from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM).
Baapu Shrreraj said among the artists involved are Sue Anna Joe, Vivian Ng, Arif Rafhan and Amir Sabri even though infertility in Malaysia is a very taboo and sensitive topic that does not get the limelight.
"So when we talked among our members to see if this topic has actually been advocated by anyone, that's where we came across TAFF," he said.
"We have actually made a lot of progress in terms of meeting Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah last week, and it has been a huge success. We've actually shown her our project progress which involves a series of arts activities," added Baapu Shrreraj when speaking to Bernama on Saturday (Jan 15).
He said the project actually incorporates the use of NFT which involves people imposing ownership on digital assets that could be in a form of a picture, audio or animation.
"So, this is where we can induce or we call it minting process where it goes into a certain blockchain characteristic, and you hold ownership towards that art," he said.
Baapu Shrreraj said all 12 NFTs will be put on auction officially on Jan 29 from 1 pm to 5 pm via Crypto-Nate's social media platforms but the pre-bidding period starts on Jan 23 onwards.

He also said that the project in collaboration with Pentas.IO - an inclusive NFT marketplace that seeks to empower content creators of heritage, cultural and traditional values through digital preservation of assets - targets to raise around RM100,000 from selling all the artworks with an expected minimum bid of RM12,000 for each painting.
"So the first one is obvious, when we talk about NFT collectors, we have people who are already well versed with NFT, So they obviously should have their crypto wallets where they can actually purchase it," said Baapu Shrreraj.
"Now, what happens if you are a bidder, you want to support the cause and you like the cause but you are not in the crypto world, no problem. You can always reach out to us because you can channel your funds into UKM's account whereby we will help you to do the transaction into cryptocurrency and we will handle the purchasing for you," he added - Bernama
