AMPANG: Five men, believed to be involved in robbing two other men and stealing two bicycles in Bandar Baru Ampang, have been detained by the police.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Farouk Eshak said the suspects, aged between 15 and 23 years old, were arrested on Thursday (Dec 30).

"We also seized a Proton Preve, believed to have been used in the heist.

"One of the suspects has a prior criminal record," he said when contacted Sunday (Jan 2).

During the Dec 23 incident, the victim, who is a UNHCR card holder, was cycling home along with his friend, ACP Farouk said.

"A car then blocked their path and the suspects snatched the victim's wallet containing RM100 as well as the two bicycles.

"The victims tried to get away but the suspects kicked him until he fell and hurt his hands," he added.

All suspects have been remanded until Monday (Jan 3), ACP Mohamad Farouk said.
