Floods: Govt machinery on standby, says NSC DG

PETALING JAYA: The government machinery for security and health is on standby to face flooding across the country, says National Security Council (NSC) director-general Datuk Rodzi Md Saad.

He said the NSC Policy and Mechanism in the Management of National Disaster and Relief has been activated through several committees to better coordinate the implementation of relief efforts.

Rodzi added that this includes the Federal Disaster Management and Relief Committee.

"The NSC calls on government agencies and the private sector to work closely together to ensure that preparations to face floods are more organised," said Rodzi.

"This is in line with the whole of government, whole of society approach," he added in a statement posted on Facebook on Thursday (Dec 23).

The number of flood victims placed at relief centres in Pahang and Selangor increased as of Wednesday ( Dec 22) night while it dropped in Kuala Lumpur and four other states.

Rodzi said the public should get information from the relevant authorities and follow their orders.

"Let us all pray together so that the country may be protected from natural disasters and remain safe during this period," he said.
