Ex-Johor MB Osman Sapian passes away

JOHOR BARU: Former Johor mentri besar Datuk Osman Sapian (pic) has passed away.

The Kempas assemblyman died at his son’s home in Damansara, Petaling Jaya at around 11.45pm on Tuesday (Dec 21).

Osman, who was the 16th Johor mentri besar and the first from Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) after the general election in 2018, suffered a stroke at his home here in October.

The 70-year-old was then taken to a private hospital here before being transferred to Hospital Serdang for further treatment.

It is learnt that Osman’s body would be brought to his home in Larkin for a burial ceremony later today.

Meanwhile, Pulai Sebatang assemblyman Muhammad Taqiuddin Cheman expressed sadness following the news of Osman’s death.

“Osman was a Johor leader who has done many good things during his time serving the rakyat as an elected representative,” he added.
