Floods: RM1,000 cash aid is for every household affected, not just evacuees, says PM

JELEBU: The RM1,000 cash aid announced by the Federal Government is for all flood victims and not only for those evacuated to temporary relief shelters.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said every affected household will be given RM1,000 as long as their names were registered with the respective district offices.

"Even victims who were not evacuated will be paid.

"Many, especially those living in double-storey houses, were not evacuated but they suffered losses too as their ground floors were submerged.

"I hope the payouts can be expedited as many have suffered losses," he said.

On Sunday (Dec 19), Ismail Sabri said each family affected by the floods in several states will receive RM1,000 in cash aid.

The Prime Minister also said that the government had approved an initial allocation of RM100mil to repair houses and infrastructure damaged by the floods nationwide.
