Covid-19: Seek medical help straight away if you show symptoms, Dr Mah tells students, teachers

KAMPAR: Don't ignore that cough or sneeze. Go for immediate check up if you have symptoms of Covid-19, says Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon.

In advising teachers and students, the Deputy Education Minister said this also applied to those with less than 92% blood oxygen saturation (SpO2) level.

"I urge those with symptoms such as coughing and sneezing, with lower Sp02 level to go to clinics or hospitals for immediate medical treatments.

"Not only is this for students, but also members of the public to continue adhering to the standard operating procedure (SOP) set by the Health Ministry," he told reporters after officiating a fundraising event for the Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) Hospital at UTAR’s Dewan Tun Dr Ling Liong Sik, here on Saturday (Dec 4).

On Dec 2, Education Minister Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin said at least 65 students from Sekolah Seri Puteri in Cyberjaya tested positive and another 150 were quarantined for being closed contacts at Institut Aminuddin Baki, Bandar Enstek in Negri Sembilan.

Dr Mah added that with various Covid-19 variants including Omicron, it was important for everyone to remain extra careful.

"There is no need to panic as long as we follow the SOP set by the Health Ministry and the National Security Council.

"We should always remain vigilant towards Covid-19 and everyone needs to play their roles,” he said, adding that nearly 100% of teachers in the country have completed their vaccines.
