Cops hunting two men who allegedly spiked drink, raped teenager

KUALA LUMPUR: Police here are tracking down two men who allegedly raped a woman and spiked her drink at an entertainment outlet in the city.

Kuala Lumpur deputy CID chief Asst Comm Kamaruzaman Elias said a police report was lodged by the victim at about 8.06pm on Thursday (Nov 18), claiming she was raped by two unknown men.

"Based on the report, the 19-year-old victim alleged that she went to a nightclub with a few friends at about 9pm on Wednesday (Nov 17). The victim was intoxicated after her drink was spiked with drugs," he said in a statement on Saturday (Nov 20).

He added that the victim said that she and her friend were then brought to a hotel in the city by the two suspects.

"She only realised she was raped after being told so by her friend," he said.

ACP Kamaruzaman added that the police are investigating the report thoroughly.

"We have opened an investigation paper and the case is classified under Section 376 of the Penal Code for rape. We are in the midst of tracking down both suspects to assist the investigation," he said.

He reminded the people not to speculate on the case or spread any unverified information as it could disrupt the ongoing investigation and cause public distress.

He also urged those with information to contact the KL police hotline at 03-21460584/585 or the nearest police station.
