Sarawak Tourism Board launches contest to showcase state's beauty

KUCHING: The Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) has launched its first photography and videography competition to showcase the state's beauty and uniqueness.

Themed "Sarawak, A Journey Awaits", the competition is open to Malaysians from now until Nov 30.

STB chief executive Sharzede Salleh Askor said artistic platforms such as photos and videos fostered connections between people in a creative manner.

"For the past year, much of our time has been apart. In this time, Sarawak has continued to thrive and remains a unique destination in Malaysia.

"We encourage Malaysians to take this opportunity to share their personal perspectives of Sarawak, especially in highlighting the state's vibrancy and authenticity," she said.

Entries for the competition must be no more than three years old in the categories of Sarawak's culture, adventure, nature, food or festivals with a short description or caption.

Participants can submit up to five photographs per category and one video only on the competition theme.

Winners will be announced on the competition website stb.foto.org.my and the Sarawak Photo Art Society's website at www.spas.com.my.
