Actress' husband detained for slapping daughter during domestic dispute

KUALA LUMPUR: The husband of an actress has been detained for allegedly slapping his nine-year-old daughter at a house here.

Wangsa Maju OCPD Supt Ashari Abu samah said the man, in his 30s, was detained after police received a report on the incident on Sunday (Oct 31).

"The investigating officer has already taken the statement of the actress while the husband has been remanded until Friday (Nov 5) to assist investigations," he said when contacted on Wednesday (Nov 3).

Supt Ashari said the suspect is believed to have been drunk and was fighting with his wife during the incident.

"The daughter tried to calm the situation but the suspect slapped her.

"The couple prefer not to make the incident a bigger issue," he added.

The case is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code and Section 18 of the Domestic Violence Act, Supt Ashari said.
