Police detain two men over online job scam after Cheras condo raid

KUALA LUMPUR: Two local men were detained in connection with an online job vacancy scam following a raid at a condominium in Cheras.

Kuala Lumpur Commercial Crime Investigation Department (CCID) chief Asst Comm Mohd Mahidisham Ishak said the two men aged 23 and 32 were detained in the raid, which was conducted on Monday (Oct 25).

"Both men were operators who targeted victims on social media," he said when contacted on Tuesday (Oct 26).

Several items were seized including a laptop, six mobile phones and two ATM cards, he added.

"We believe the syndicate has been operating since May. They were targeting locals," he said.

Both men have been remanded until Thursday (Oct 28), ACP Mohd Mahidisham said.
