KUALA LUMPUR: A special task force will be formed to investigate allegations made by former attorney general Tommy Thomas in his book My Story: Justice in the Wilderness.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the Cabinet decided to form the task force to study the allegations before further action is taken.
"Among Thomas' allegations that will be investigated are abuse of power in appointing judges, interference of the executive branch of government in the judiciary, selective prosecution of political nature and breaking the oath of secrets.
"The task force will be given six months to produce findings and recommendations to the Cabinet," he said in a statement on Saturday (Oct 9).
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Parliament and Law) Datuk Seri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar had said in his winding-up address for the 12th Malaysia Plan in Parliament on Thursday (Oct 7), that the Cabinet would decide if there was a need to set up a Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) on Thomas.
