Cheras cops dispose of over 2,000 case items worth RM150,000


KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 2,236 case items worth about RM150,000 were disposed of by Cheras police.

Cheras OCPD Asst Comm Muhammad Idzam Jaafar said the items were from 86 investigation papers.

"The case items were from cases of prostitution, illegal gambling and smuggling of cigarettes for 2019 and 2020.

"The items were destroyed in accordance with Section 407a(2) of the Criminal Procedure Code," he told reporters during the case disposal ceremony at the Alam Damai beat base on Tuesday (Sept 28).

Cheras police will continue to combat crimes in the district especially involving prostitution and illegal gambling, he added.

"We appreciate the assistance of the public in relaying relevant information to the police.

"We hope those with information on any criminal activity can contact the police as soon as possible," he said.

ACP Muhammad Idzam said the police's priority is ensuring the safety and security of the public.

"We will step up operations in the district.

"The men and women at the district are committed towards curbing crime," he said.
