Veteran former assemblyman Nilwan Kabang's passing a great loss, says Bung

KOTA KINABALU: The passing of former Kunak assemblyman Datuk Nilwan Kabang is a huge loss to the people of Sabah, and Umno here, say Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin (pic).

The state Umno chief said the passing of the assistant information chief for Sabah Umno came as a shock to not only the party, but Bung himself who was a close friend of his.

"He was a good friend of mine, we have been in politics together since the Usno era, before Umno spread its wings to Sabah," he said in conveying his condolences to the family.

He said Nilwan, 71, was a strong-willed person and did not back down from challenges easily.

He was also calm when faced with any problem, Bung said.

He hoped Nilwan’s family will stay strong to face these difficult times ahead.

"May his (Nilwan) soul be placed among the righteous in heaven," he added.

Nilwan passed away after over two weeks of battling Covid-19, at about 3.45am, Sunday (Sept 19).
