KUALA LUMPUR: A 13-year-old boy was among 17 people arrested after police raided a drug-fuelled birthday party at a luxury apartment along Jalan Sultan Ismail.
The boy had followed his elder brother to the party, and was one of two teenagers detained in the 11.55pm raid on Thursday (Sept 2).
City Narcotic Crime Investigation Department chief Asst Comm Sahar Abd Latif police arrested eight males and nine females, aged 13 to 54, and found 10.73g of ecstasy and 2.88g of ketamine worth RM864.
"We also seized an access card to the premises, one amplifier and a laser light unit," he said in a statement on Friday (Sept 3).
He said urine tests were conducted and four men and four women tested positive for methamphetamines and ketamine.
"Investigations revealed the party was organised by a 23-year-old woman for her birthday," he said.
He said further investigations revealed the organiser paid RM350 a day to rent the premises and none of the partygoers was charged an entrance fee.
"We issued RM2,000 compound notices to all the partygoers under Rule 17(1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Regulations.
"The owner of the premise and the organiser can also face action under Section 13(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 which carries a maximum RM10,000 fine and five years jail or both upon conviction," he said adding that they viewed organising such immoral and illicit activities seriously.
ACP Sahar warned the public to refrain from such activities or face stern action.
He also urged the management of hotels, service apartments and condominiums to channel information on such activities to the police.
Those with information on such activities can contact the police hotline at 03-2115 9999 or the nearest police station.
