IPOH: Former Perak mentri besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu (pic) has found himself thrust back into the spotlight with a picture, purportedly of him being appointed the Prime Minister's special adviser, being circulated on social media.
The picture, supposedly issued by Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia's (Bersatu) Kota Baru division, congratulated the Tambun MP and Chenderiang assemblyman over the appointment to a "minister-level" position.
Attempts to get comments from Ahmad Faizal, who is state Bersatu chairman, were unsuccessful.
When contacted, state Bersatu secretary Datuk Zainol Fadzi Paharudin said it was better to wait for an official announcement from party leadership.
When met at a food aid distribution programme on Thursday (Aug 5), Bersatu's Tualang Sekah assemblyman Datuk Nolee Ashilin Mohammed Radzi was also unsure.
"I saw the picture this morning too. Should be true," she said.
According to Malaysia Dateline, the appointment was confirmed by the party's supreme council member Datuk Farid Zawawi, who is the Kota Baru division chief.
