Fire destroys eight shophouses in Johor

MERSING (Bernama): Eight abandoned shophouses at the Jalan Bulang bus station in Kampung Tanjong, Endau, here were gutted by fire in the early hours of Saturday (July 31).

Endau Fire and Rescue Department chief Mohd Alias Hussin said that 14 firefighters were sent to the scene after receiving an emergency call at 3.55 am.

"The fire destroyed 80% of the vacant shophouses which had been abandoned and damaged 90% of a motorcycle,” he said in a statement.

"There were no casualties in the blaze. The cause of the fire and losses suffered are under investigation,” he said, adding that the fire was put out at 5 am. - Bernama
