PETALING JAYA: The National Patriots Association (Patriot) is shocked and grieved over what it terms conclusive evidence of an act of treason committed wilfully against the Constitutional Monarchy.
It referenced various news reports of ‘The King stresses that the minister’s statement in Parliament on July 26 is inaccurate and misled the members of the Dewan Rakyat,’ as said by the Comptroller of the Royal Household of Istana Negara Datuk Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin in a statement on Thursday (July 29).
Patriot president Brig-Jen (Rtd) Datuk Mohamed Arshad Raji said the association joins the “demands of millions of Malaysians that the leaders in the Perikatan Nasional led government should immediately resign”.
“Theirs is an act of treason against our Constitutional Monarchy and for having grossly desecrated the Federal Constitution and having acted malafide in the august House of Parliament,” he added in a statement.
According to Mohamed Arshad, Patriot lends its full support for civil society’s call for Tan Sri Muhyddin Yassin and his Cabinet members to resign immediately to “allow a legitimate, responsible government to restore the dignity and sacrosanct Federal Constitution and the Constitutional Monarchy in leading the nation out of the crises brought upon us”.
“Patriot believes that it is the duty of all patriotic citizens - irrespective of status, role and interests, to redeem the insults, dereliction of duties and failures brought upon our nation by Muhyiddin and his trusted Cabinet members,” he said.
Earlier, it was reported that Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah had expressed great disappointment with the government’s decision to revoke six Emergency Ordinances without his consent.
In a statement, the King had also expressed dismay that the revocation of the ordinances was not presented in Parliament by the government.
