Man in expletive-laden tirade at nasi lemak seller remanded one more day, may be charged on Thursday (July 22)

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have obtained a remand extension on the man who allegedly launched a foul-mouthed tirade at a nasi lemak seller and her customers at Taman Desa here.

Brickfields Deputy OCPD Supt Basri Sagoni said the remand order on the suspect has been extended by another day.

"Maybe we will charge him tomorrow (July 22)," he said when contacted on Wednesday (July 21).

It was reported that police arrested the suspect on Monday.

In a video clip which has since gone viral, the man is seen not wearing a mask and heard using expletives as he berates the nasi lemak seller and another customer.

This is apparently after he was asked to put on a mask.

Supt Basri was quoted as saying the incident occurred at about 10.30am on Monday (July 19).

Police received a report from a 22-year-old woman after the man allegedly scolded and used foul language on her mother and a customer in front of her stall along Jalan Desa Bakti.

The case is being investigated as criminal intimidation under Section 506 of the Penal Code, as well as violating standard operating procedures under Rule 17(1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Regulations.

Since the video went viral, another video of the same man has been making its rounds on social media and WhatsApp.

In the other clip, the man is seen and heard berating an individual behind the camera at a gymnasium.
