Waiting for King’s consent to name new deputy IGP


PUTRAJAYA: The name of the new Deputy Inspector-General of Police has been handed over to Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, says Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin.

“The Prime Minister is waiting for the consent of Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.

“The Police Force Commission has shortlisted the name to fill the vacant post last week.

“For now, I cannot reveal the name yet. We should all wait for the decision, ” said the Home Minister during an interview yesterday.

Among the names that have been mentioned to assume the post were Federal Narcotic Crime Investigation Department director Comm Datuk Razarudin Husain and Logistics director Comm Datuk Seri Mazlan Lazim.
