Higher Education Minister: PTPTN repayments to be deferred for three months until Aug 31

PETALING JAYA: National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) loan repayments will be deferred for three months, says Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad.

The Higher Education Minister said that borrowers who are affected can apply for the deferment on PTPTN’s official website between June 10 and Aug 31.

“The period of deferment starts from the month the application is approved. This is because the government is concerned and aware of the fact that there are PTPTN borrowers who are affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and have not been able to make loan repayments, ” she said.

Noraini said in a statement on Wednesday (June 9) that details of the deferment will be provided by PTPTN, adding that borrowers with further inquiries can contact the PTPTN careline at 03-2193 3000, from Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm.

She said previously the government deferred PTPTN repayments for all borrowers from March 19 to Dec 31 last year, and gave a special deferment for borrowers affected for three months between January and May this year.
