Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing

PETALING JAYA: The Unesco Institute for Information Technologies in Education (IITE) has expressed its sadness and shock over the sudden passing of Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing.

Unesco IITE director Tao Zhan said Lim dedicated his life to the present and the future of education, and to the young generation across the world.

"The Unesco IITE and Limkokwing University of Creative Technology have established a close partnership and developed a joint project supporting inclusive education in Africa with Lim’s support, ” said Tao.

“We are committed to the continuation of our meaningful collaboration, which is the best way to memorialise Lim as a great figure in education and philanthropy. It is a great loss for all of us, especially for his family and university colleagues, ” he added in a letter on Wednesday (June 2).

Lim died on Tuesday (June 1) at the age of 75, and news of his death was announced by Limkokwing University in a statement.

The educator and founder of the Limkokwing University of Creative Technology was reported to have been hospitalised last week after a fall at his home.

The university has campuses across Asia, Africa and Europe.
