Idris Jusoh: Felda collects RM10mil through waqf programme


TAMPIN (Bernama): The Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) has managed to collect RM10mil in donations from settlers and members nationwide through its waqf (endowment) programme.

Its chairman Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh said the concept of the waqf programme could foster a culture of giving alms among Felda members.

He said each settler contributed RM300 and the proceeds were handed over to the Islamic Religious Council in their respective states.

"So far, we have collected almost RM10mil. In Negeri Sembilan alone, a total of RM600,000 has been contributed by settlers in the Raja Alias Region to the state Islamic Religious Council in two phases, ” he told reporters after an Ihya Ramadan programme at Felda Jelai 3 near here on Tuesday (April 27).
