KLANG: Sixteen schools in the district have been shut down for two days from Monday (April 26) due to cases of Covid-19 infection.

According to Klang MP Charles Santiago, a copy of the closure order was sent to his office by one of the schools on Sunday (April 25) night.

"We contacted someone from the Klang education office and he confirmed the closure," said Santiago.

Among the schools that were ordered to close are SMK Bukit Tinggi, SK Taman Klang Jaya, SK Rantau Panjang, SMK Meru, SMK Jalan Kebun, SJKC Wu Teck, SK Bukit Cerakah, SJKC Khe Beng, SMK La Salle, SMK Sri Andalas, SMJK Kwang Hua, SMK Raja Lumu, SJKC Hin Hua, SMK Raja Mahadi and SK Taman Sri Andalas.

The 15 schools were listed on Santiago's Facebook account Sunday night.

A Klang district education department officer confirmed the closures and said another school had been added to the original list of 15, bringing the total number of schools closed in the district to 16.

Meanwhile, Santiago said teachers had told him that class attendance has been very poor at 20%-30%.

"There hasn't been full attendance yet since the reopening," he added.
