Melaka cops destroy 25 years' worth of drug evidence

MELAKA: The police here have managed to clear its evidence storage of drugs, some dating back 25 years, with the help of Kualiti Alam Sekitar Sdn Bhd.

State narcotics chief Supt Zulkiflee Rashid said the drugs, worth a total of RM181,495.67 were ordered to be destroyed at the integrated waste treatment plant at Port Dickson in Negri Sembilan.

"The drugs were confiscated between 1995 to 2021 involving 1,896 investigation papers," he said on Wednesday (April 7), adding that all the cases were already closed.

Supt Zulkiflee said among the case items destroyed were syabu, heroin as well as other prohibited substances.

He said Kualiti Alam had the proper facilities to dispose of such substances without affecting the environment.
