Cheung remains in hearts of 70,000 fans

A , titled “Missing You, Leslie Cheung 2021” that was held on Hong Kong HiEggo’s YouTube channel and Facebook page on April 1 attracted more than 70,000 viewers, China Press reported.

The concert, which was a tribute to the late singer-actor, featured big names such as Sam Hui, Hacken Lee, Karen Mok and Julian Cheung performing Cheung’s (pic) songs.

They performed with Metro Vocal Group, an American a cappella group based in Hong Kong, and the Hong Kong Baptist University Symphony Orchestra.

Some of the songs performed during the concert included Chase, Missing You and Feng Ji Xu Chui.

The concert attracted Cheung’s fans from Singapore, Canada, China, Thailand, Australia, the United States as well as Britain.

Fondly known as “gor gor” (elder brother) in Hong Kong’s showbiz, Cheung took his own life on April 1,2003.

Sin Chew Daily reported that the man returned to Parit Buntar last year to visit his parents but was unable to fly back to Singapore where his wife and child live.

He came across a milk tea company and decided to earn a living there. But the catch is that he has to dress as Spider-Man or Iron Man.

These days, he can sell up to 10 bottles of milk tea for RM10 each or RM18 for two.

“I can fly back to Singapore now but I could not afford the quarantine fee which costs more than RM10,000. I am just a salaried worker, ” he said.
