Nur Sajat may have fled the country, say cops

NILAI: Cosmetics entrepreneur Nur Sajat (pic), who is on the run from police and religious authorities, is believed to have fled the country, reported Sinar Harian.

Bukit Aman CID director Datuk Huzir Mohamed said Selangor police and the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais) have not stopped looking for Nur Sajat, whose real name is Muhammad Sajjad Kamaruzzaman.

Sinar Harian reported Huzir as saying that he had received reports that Nur Sajat was now abroad.

When asked to comment on Nur Sajat's remarks that police are too busy with other matters to look for her, Huzir refused to comment further as the case was still under investigation.

Nur Sajat had recently denied being in hiding from Jais or any authorities during a video posted on Instagram recently.

The Syariah High Court issued an arrest warrant against Nur Sajat, 36, for failing to be in court on Feb 23.

She was charged with dressing as a woman at a religious event in a beauty centre in Shah Alam, and bringing Islam into contempt on Feb 23,2018.

She was charged under Section 10(a) of the Syariah Crimes (Selangor) Enactment 1995 which provides for a maximum fine of RM5,000 or imprisonment not exceeding three years or both, if convicted.
