GEORGE TOWN: A Parti Amanah Negara assemblyman has denied allegations that he sexually assaulted a woman.
Permatang Pasir assemblyman Muhammad Faiz Fadzil (pic) said he had given a statement to the police on March 18 over the report made by a woman against him on March 16.
"I have given my full cooperation to the police and will continue to cooperate with authorities," he said in a statement on Tuesday (March 23).
He also declined to comment further as the case was still under police investigation.
"I'm now talking to my lawyers on taking necessary legal action to clear my name," he said.
Muhammad Faiz, the son of the late PAS president Datuk Fadzil Noor, vowed to continue carrying out his duty as an assemblyman and to continue to fight to uphold democratic and social justice.
In the 14th General Election, Muhammad Faiz contested and won the Permatang Pasir state seat with 9,708 votes, defeating PAS' Muhammad Fauzi Yusoff and Anuar Faisal Yahya from Umno.
The 44-year-old lawyer was the former Negri Sembilan PAS chief before he joined Amanah on Sept 16,2015.
