Lulu Group Retail announced major expansion plans in Malaysia

PETALING JAYA: Lulu Group Retail has plans of opening more hypermarkets in the next few years in Malaysia.

Lulu Group International chairman Yusuff Ali MA made the remarks during a meeting with Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin in Abu Dhabi recently.

Yusuff Ali said that at least 10 to 15 new hypermarkets are in the pipeline to be opened in the next three years period.

There are currently two hypermarkets in Malaysia and four more hypermarkets will be opened in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Johor, Putrajaya and other cities this year.

During the meeting, Muhyiddin congratulated Lulu Group and Yusuff Ali for working closely with the Malaysian government against the Covid-19 health crisis.

He encouraged the Group to open more outlets in Malaysia to boost Malaysian economy and to provide more job opportunities for the locals.

Yusuff Ali said the Malaysian government is “very supportive" of Lulu Group's operations in Malaysia.

The Abu Dhabi headquartered Lulu has 202 hypermarkets across Middle East countries, Egypt, Indonesia and Malaysia and it has operations in more than 15 countries worldwide.
