Seven arrested over attack on duo at flats in PJ


PETALING JAYA: Two men were allegedly attacked by a group of men believed to be drunk at Sungai Way here in two separate incidents.

One of the men was slashed over a parking row while the other was for throwing rubbish.

Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said the incidents occurred at around 11pm Thursday (March 11) and 1.30am Friday (March 12).

"We were alerted at 11.37pm over a fight at the Impian Baiduri Flats here, and a patrol car was dispatched to the area.

"Further investigations revealed two incidents occurred there involving a group of between seven and 11 men who were believed to be under the influence of alcohol," he said in a statement on Friday.

He said the first fight occurred at around 11pm over a misunderstanding related to parking.

"The 34-year-old man suffered injuries to his body and the group also damaged a Perodua MyVi and a Perodua Bezza during the incident.

"The second incident occurred at around 1.30am involving a 20-year-old victim.

"The victim was slashed by the group and suffered injuries to his calf and forehead," he said, adding that the incident was sparked when the victim threw rubbish.

He said seven men have been arrested over the incidents, and will be remanded to facilitate investigations.

"We are now tracing the whereabouts of four other suspects.

"We urge these men to surrender themselves at the nearest police station," he said, urging anyone with information on the case to contact Insp Sangaran Rajaram at 012-539 0380 or the police operations room at 03-7966 2176.
