Fire breaks out at water village on Gaya island, over 70 homes destroyed

KOTA KINABALU: Thousands of families escaped a fire which broke out at a water village at the Gaya Island here late Thursday (March 11).

The fire destroyed over 70 wooden houses but spared almost 800 others when firemen used the “fire break” method to confine the fire as much as possible.
