Ismail Sabri: 242 arrested for breaching SOP including EMCO on Wednesday (March 10)

PUTRAJAYA: Police arrested 242 individuals for violating standard operating procedures (SOP), including one person for breaching the enhanced movement control order.

Of those arrested during enforcement activities by the police on Wednesday (March 10), 240 individuals were issued with compounds and two were remanded.

Among other violations committed were failure to register customers’ details (88), not wearing face masks (66), no social distancing (46), cross border travel without permission (33), participating activities at entertainment centres (6) and premises operating beyond permitted hours (2).

Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said that 4,807 foreign workers were screened for Covid-19 on March 10, with 114 testing positive.

According to Human Resources Ministry figures, 603,597 foreign workers had been sent for swab tests involving 31,466 employers.

“On Ops Benteng, enforcement authorities reported to have nabbed 26 illegal immigrants, seized a boat and four land vehicles.

“Authorities had also detected the presence of 86 vessels in Malaysian waters, ” he said on Thursday (March 11).

Ismail Sabri also said the return of 619 individuals to Malaysia via international gateways on Wednesday, and were sent to government-designated quarantine stations.

Since July 24 last year, a total of 141,294 individuals had returned and were sent to observe mandatory quarantine at selected hotels and training institutions.
