Covid-19: Nine new clusters detected, while another 19 end


PETALING JAYA: Nine new Covid-19 clusters were identified on Tuesday (Mar 9) while 19 others have ended, the Health Ministry said in a statement.

Out of the nine clusters, six involved workplace infections, two were community transmissions, and one was detected from among a high-risk group.

The Lorong Kilang cluster involved the Petaling and Klang districts in Selangor, and was detected following targeted screening of factory workers.

The factory is located in Lorong Kilang in Petaling Jaya, where 41 cases have been found.

The Jalan Nusa Mega cluster from Johor Baru has 36 cases involving factory workers at Jalan Mega 1, Nusa Cemerlang Industrial Park.

The Jalan Industri A1 cluster involves the Tangkak district in Johor and is linked to a factory along Jalan Industri A1, Muar.

To date, there are 21 cases linked to this cluster, with four cases identified in an earlier screening before they returned to their country of origin.

The Medan Bayan Lepas cluster is located in Penang, and currently has 65 cases.

It was found after a targeted screening of factory workers in Medan Bayan Lepas in the Bayan Lepas Free Industrial Zone.

The Jalan U Thant construction site cluster in Titiwangsa, Kuala Lumpur, has 35 cases detected following targeted screening of workers there.

The Jalan Salak construction site cluster is in Lembah Pantai, Kuala Lumpur, and involves a construction project in Jalan Salak Selatan, with 16 cases found following targeted screening.

The Jalan Setia Jaya cluster is linked to community transmission which occurred in Batu Pahat, Johor.

The cluster now has 28 cases and is linked to a celebratory ceremony held at Jalan Setia Jaya Utama.

The Sungai Lembing cluster is linked to community transmission which occurred in Kuantan, and it now has 13 cases.

The Amanjaya cluster involves a high-risk group and involves the Kuala Muda, Pendang and Yan districts in Kedah.

It is linked to a medical facility in Bandar Aman Jaya, Sungai Petani and now has 16 cases.
