SEPANG: The driver of the express bus ferrying Covid-19 patients that was involved in a road accident has tested positive for the disease.
Sepang OCPD Asst Comm Wan Kamarul Azran Wan Yusof said the bus driver tested positive for Covid-19 after a swab test was conducted on him.
The driver is believed to have lost control of his vehicle before it crashed into a booth at the UPM toll plaza.
The bus was ferrying patients from the Changkat Jong cluster to the Maeps quarantine centre and was carrying a total of 40 people.
"Investigations showed that the accident occurred at around 2pm. The driver is believed to have lost control of the bus, resulting in the vehicle crashing into a toll booth at the Touch 'n Go lane.
"Eight passengers inside and the driver suffered light injuries and have been sent to the Serdang Hospital for treatment," said ACP Wan Kamarul in a statement on Saturday (Feb 27).
