PUTRAJAYA: Authorities have ordered for the enhanced movement control order to be enforced at Centennial Hotel, Kampung Acheh in Sitiawan, Perak beginning Feb 25 after a sudden spike in the number of Covid-19 cases recorded at the locality.
Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob (pic) said that as of Feb 21, health authorities had carried out 349 screenings, of which 125 individuals tested positive for the coronavirus.
He said the Health Ministry also confirmed that the infectivity rate at the locality was high.
“A risk assessment was carried out by the MCO technical committee and on advice from the Health Ministry, the government has agreed to place the locality under an enhanced MCO for 14 days until March 10, ” the Defence Minister said in a statement Wednesday (Feb 24).
The lockdown would enable the health authorities to carry out targeted screening on residents and control their movements to reduce the chances of infectivity within the community, said Ismail Sabri.
