PETALING JAYA: The Higher Education Ministry has launched an action plan designed to create tech-savvy, enterprising graduates that can take on the challenges of a digitalised world.
Its minister Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad (pic) said the Higher Education Institution (HEI) Entrepreneurship Action Plan 2021-2025 will focus on forming a synergistic and holistic entrepreneurial ecosystem, create high-impact entrepreneurship involving various strategic parties and emphasise innovative and technology-based entrepreneurship.
“This manuscript outlines new strategies and approaches in a more holistic and robust way, taking into account the development of global and domestic scenarios, and the potential for future opportunities, ” she said when launching the action plan and the ministry's Guide to Entrepreneurship Integrated Education (EIE) on Friday (Feb 19).
“In general, this strategic framework celebrates the formation of a synergistic entrepreneurial ecosystem between academics, the industry, the government and the community in the landscape of the country’s higher education system.
“The empowerment of innovation and technology elements in entrepreneurship is also given special attention in line with the latest technological developments such as e-commerce, fintech, big data, robotic engineering and the Internet of Things, ” she said, adding that this provides added value to the students.
The EIE, said Noraini, places importance on matching the real business world with the curriculum, as well as experience and problem-based learning.
The latest action plan follows the ministry’s previous roadmaps - the HEI Entrepreneurship Action Plan 2016-2020 and the Entrepreneurship Strategic Plan 2013-2015.
