Jilted man throws petrol bomb into house after ex-girlfriend falls for his friend


MELAKA: Out of jealousy, a suspect threw a petrol bomb into his friend's house here.

Melaka Tengah OCPD Asst Comm Afzanizar Ahmad said the suspect was jilted by his girlfriend, 46, who fell in love with his friend.

He said the 50-year-old suspect was detained a few hours after he tossed the petrol bomb into a house at Taman Melaka Baru here on Monday (Feb 15).

He said the 49-year-old house owner heard a loud noise outside his house at about 6pm and lodged a police report at 7.45pm on the same day.

ACP Afzanizar said the house owner who works as a painter saw a man fleeing in a car after throwing the petrol bomb.

"A shoe rack was destroyed while the impact also discoloured part of the wall," he said on Tuesday (Feb 16).

ACP Afzanizar said the suspect was detained at 10pm at Taman Bachang Utama here on the same day.

ACP Afzanizar said the suspect has been remanded until Feb 20 to assist in investigations under Section 435 of the Penal Code for committing mischief by fire or any explosive substance.
