Muhyiddin: MPs, assemblymen to be among first to receive Covid-19 vaccine


PUTRAJAYA: Political leaders from both sides of the divide will be among the first to receive the Covid-19 vaccine in the immunisation programme's first phase, says said Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

He said those who are working on the ground to serve the rakyat such as Members of Parliament and assemblymen, will be categorised as a frontliner and are therefore eligible to receive the jab in the first phase which starts on Feb 26.

“This is so that they can carry out their duties effectively and in a safe manner, ” he said at the launch of the the National Covid-19 Immunisation Plan handbook in Putrajaya on Tuesday (Feb 16).

Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said in the first phase, Covid-19 vaccines will be allocated for 300,000 medical frontliners and 200,000 non-medical frontliners, which would include politicians.
